About Gemma
I am a poet at heart and a lover of education and learning. Teaching and passing on my knowledge about my passion has been one of my greatest joys. I like to think of teaching as not only a way for me to help others but as a way to connect and share something beautiful with my community. I have over 5 years of experience in the public education sector, enjoying the privilege of working with a huge diversity of people from refugees and ESOL adult learners to reluctant teenagers who just need time, passion and patience to open up to the art of learning. The main thing you will need to know about me though is that I will always take a creative approach to the work that we do, supported by my Master of Arts from Bath Spa University and my Level 3 qualification in Education and Training. I also have up-to-date Safeguarding training and a DBS on the update service that I can provide if requested. Using my three years' experience teaching 14-25 year olds as well as my personal and professional experience with SEND such as ASC, ADHD and Dyslexia, we can work together to improve any writing you are currently working on or to create a jumping-off point for any new project! Those of you who are professionals or would like to be can turn to me for support such as proofreading and planning. For those of you still gaining qualifications, I have taught to both Pearson Edexcel and AQA specifications to GCSE level. I have also two years' experience teaching Functional Skills English (Entry Level 2 and 3, Level 1 and Level 2). This experience has meant that I can support students with homework, coursework and practice questions to help support English qualifications. Lastly, my relaxed and creative approach has been beneficial to many students who struggle in more traditional, rigid educational settings.
