About Alex
I am a Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering graduate and currently an MSc Machine Learning student, with a strong and practical background in mathematics. I use maths daily in my studies, which allows me to explain concepts clearly and logically rather than relying on memorised methods. Alongside my academic background, I have professional tutoring experience, including working at Mathnasium, where I supported students across a range of ages and ability levels. This experience has helped me develop a structured, patient, and reliable teaching style. I take tutoring seriously and aim to create a focused but supportive learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and making mistakes. My approach is calm, organised, and results-oriented, with a clear emphasis on building confidence and understanding over time.

My lessons are structured and focused on what each student actually needs. I start by finding where their understanding breaks down, then work on building the concepts properly rather than memorising methods. The aim is for students to feel confident tackling unfamiliar questions, not just ones they have seen before. Lessons are usually 60 minutes and involve a mix of explanation, worked examples, and independent practice, with feedback throughout. I’m flexible with pacing depending on the student. I have a Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering BEng and am currently studying for an MSc in Machine Learning, so I use maths daily at a high level. I’ve also worked as a tutor at Mathnasium, supporting students of different ages and abilities. My lessons are aimed at KS3 and GCSE students who want clearer explanations, stronger foundations, and more confidence in exams.
