About Minko
I am a graphic designer with more than 25 years of professional experience, 15 of which also as an educator. Over the years, I’ve learned a lot about visualizing ideas. My interest in teaching grew as a resistance to the natural tendency to specialize in a specific field. Having studied Law and Culture Theory, I knew the power of diverse knowledge, which helped me embark on my journey as a graphic designer. This happened as I had arrived in the U.S. as a political refugee with nothing but my will to learn. In the process, I found out that design is a way to live.

What we know is only a way to find out what we don’t. Teaching is mutual learning, and I invite you on a journey to try it with me. It’s not the things we learn but how we learn to learn that makes a difference.
I’ll meet with you online and we will work together to determine your needs and how best I can meet them.

I had the pleasure of taking three classes with Minko—History of Graphic Design, Typography I, and Introduction to Computer Graphics—and each one was an incredibly eye-opening experience. His subjective approach to design and history encouraged me to think critically, not just in class but in my own creative work as well. Minko is not only knowledgeable but also extremely friendly and approachable, making his classes both engaging and inspiring. His passion for the subject matter is contagious, and I walked away from each course with a deeper understanding and appreciation for design. If you're looking for someone who truly challenges you to see things differently while creating a supportive learning environment, I can't recommend Minko enough!
Minko is fantastic! I had the opportunity to learn from him while studying graphic design. Not only did he provide thoughtful feedback, but he also challenged me to expand my perspective as a designer. These critical thinking skills have provided me with a skill set that I honestly don't think I would have if it weren't for his guidance. He's the absolute best and all aspiring designers would be lucky to learn from him!
I had the privilege of studying under Minko at the New England School of Art and Design at Suffolk University, and from the start, it was clear that he brings an unparalleled level of engagement, insight, and originality to every interaction. His ability to listen deeply, interpret meaningfully, and offer transformative insights makes him an invaluable mentor in the art of design storytelling.
Minko is not just a professor—he is an innovator and catalyst for change. He challenges convention, encourages bold thinking, and inspires people to see beyond the expected. His approach isn’t just about honing creative skills; it’s about building the mindset and character that creative leaders need to make an impact. Anyone who has the opportunity to work with or learn from Minko will come away thinking differently, leading boldly, and creating with purpose.I've completed four graphic design courses with Minko, and his teaching has profoundly shaped my understanding of the field. His unique approach emphasizes not just the technical side but also the importance of visual communication, making the material both engaging and memorable. He breaks down complex concepts into clear, practical lessons, encouraging creative thinking and a deeper understanding of design principles. If you're looking to build a solid foundation in graphic design while learning how to communicate ideas visually, I highly recommend him.
Professor Minko Dimov taught me foundational courses in graphic design such as computer graphics, typography, history of graphic design, and more. He is extremely experienced and knowledgeable in this field and I would highly recommend him as a professor. If you have a question, he will always find a way to give you the answer in a way you understand, and he will not give up until the concept can be understood. His feedback is also very helpful to me since it is critical while also being quite encouraging.
Minko Dimov is an exceptional expert on design and brand. I have repeatedly hired Minko Dimov, and his delivery each time has been flawless and of exceptional quality.
What's remarkable is that Minko Dimov has been able to impress audiences and stakeholders that were demanding and hard to please. All of that is because the work he does is absolutely outstanding.
Minko is very knowledgeable about all areas of design and beyond. He brings really stunning insights to the projects he undertakes. I cannot recommend Minko Dimov strongly enough. You have to work with Minko to find out for yourself, and then you will keep going back to him for additional projects, just as I have done.It is with great respect and appreciation that I write this recommendation for Minko, a truly dedicated educator. I had the privilege of being his student for three years at Suffolk University, during which time he not only demonstrated deep expertise in graphic design but also an unwavering commitment to his students’ intellectual growth. By creating the impromptu studio, where students experiment with real-world projects and get to interact with clients. His teaching was always clear, engaging, and thought-provoking, fostering both confidence and curiosity in those he guided.
What sets Minko apart is his continued generosity as a mentor. Even after I graduated, he remained genuinely invested in my academic development, offering thoughtful advice and encouragement as I navigated my own teaching and learning journey. Now, as I pursue my PhD, his support has not wavered—his insightful feedback continues to shape my thinking and refine my work.
Minko’s dedication extends far beyond the formal role of a teacher; he is a mentor in the truest sense of the word. His integrity, generosity, and passion for education make him an invaluable presence in any academic setting. I cannot recommend him highly enough.I have had Minko Dimov for 3 different design classes including intro to computer graphics, typography 1, and a studio graphic design class. In those classes he is constantly encouraging new ways of thinking through ideas. He is a professor that sparks thought through conversation, connecting ideas and principles throughout history. There are many times in which I have felt stuck with projects and he had encouraged, through his abstract thinking, to see beyond what is possible and to create innovate and creative work that connects to bigger themes.
Minko is a very trustworthy and reliable professor, and he allowed me and my classmates to work and learn in a freeing creative environment. We learned a lot and it was very easy to stay enthusiastic and involved. If I could take more of his classes I would!
Prof. Dimov was my freshman and sophomore prof and was one of the best instructors I’ve ever had. I was completely new to graphic design and how to use the software and he really showed me the ins and outs of everything. Not only for beginner level as Minko was teaching and demonstrating great knowledge on type hierarchy design elements and much more. I would definitely recommend Minko as his teacher style is very easy to learn and grown as a student and he is a very nice and understanding teacher!
I’ve had the pleasure of being one of Minkos students 4 times throughout my past 3 semesters at Endicott College, and I can truthfully say that he is one of the best professors I have ever had. He knows more about design than anyone I’ve ever met, and his interest in design is one of his top attributes. He really takes time to get to know his students and forms great relationships with them. He is a great teacher and role model and I couldn’t recommend anyone better.
