About Tommy
Confidently performing music begins with strong foundations and guided learning, which I provide as a guitar tutor. With Bachelor’s degrees in Music, I combine technical expertise, teaching experience, and performance insight in every lesson. I start with foundational techniques like posture, finger placement, chord transitions, strumming, rhythm, and tone, gradually introducing improvisation, phrasing, and composition. Music theory is incorporated practically, linking directly to songs and exercises students enjoy. Lessons are customised to the student’s pace, goals, and style, fostering growth and confidence. I emphasise both technical skill and expressive playing to help students communicate through music.
Ear training, sight-reading, and performance exercises are included to develop well-rounded musicianship. Students explore genres such as classical, jazz, rock, blues, and pop to broaden musical understanding. Structured practice routines, feedback, and guidance ensure steady progress and help overcome challenges. Milestones are celebrated to motivate learners and reinforce achievement. Creativity, improvisation, and composition are encouraged to help students develop a unique musical voice. Lessons balance discipline, technical proficiency, and artistic freedom to ensure engagement. Over time, students gain technical mastery, expressive artistry, and performance readiness. Teaching guitar is mentorship, inspiration, and skill development combined. My ultimate goal is to empower students to play creatively, confidently, and authentically. You’ll learn how to play cleanly, confidently, and expressively. I make theory approachable by connecting it to songs and real-life playing. For students interested in performing, I offer stage coaching and confidence-building exercises. I believe that learning should always be joyful, not stressful.
