About Shirley
I was born in China, and worked there as a formally trained English teacher for more than 10 years. After immigrating to Canada, I worked as a Chinese tutor in the Toronto district school board for many years. I am very proficient in guiding students toward approaching a new language, and transitioning to a higher level. My system of teaching is finding out the specific learning barrier for each student quickly, and efficiently find a solution to break that barrier. I provide tailored tutorials for different needs in Chinese learning. My way of guiding is relaxing and interesting, and I’ve always felt that I was born an educator - as I have numerous passions in education. As my children have grown up, I want to dedicate more of my life to teaching.

Don’t have a fixed text book in my lessons. I will design topics and materials according to my students needs. No pressure but efficient is my goal to expanding my lessons. Create situations for students to speak Chinese even without notice they are speaking. Since confidence is very important for learning a foreign language, a lot of encouragement together with training of speaking techniques will be given.
