About Monique
I’m an experienced educator with 16 years of experience working with children and families. Throughout my career, I’ve taught elementary and middle school students, supported literacy development, coached teachers, and helped develop curriculum.
I believe every student can grow as a reader when they receive the right instruction, support, and encouragement. I bring a calm, patient, and positive approach to tutoring, while also providing the structured instruction students need to make real progress.
I especially enjoy helping students who may have lost confidence in reading. My goal is not only to strengthen their skills, but to help them see themselves as capable readers.

My lessons are designed for elementary students who want to become stronger, more confident readers. With 16 years of experience in education, I use an individualized approach grounded in the Science of Reading to meet students where they are and target the skills they need most.
Depending on the student, lessons may focus on phonics, decoding, phonemic awareness, fluency, vocabulary, comprehension, spelling, or writing.
A typical lesson includes explicit instruction, guided practice, and opportunities for the student to apply new skills independently. I use engaging texts and activities while making sure instruction is purposeful and aligned to the student's needs.
I work primarily with K–5 students, including students who need additional support with foundational reading skills or who want to build confidence and fluency.
What sets me apart is my experience as an educator. I understand how children learn to read, how to identify areas that need support, and how to make instruction feel encouraging rather than frustrating.
