About VIVIEN
I especially love to work with adults who may be returning to the academic world after an absence. Statistics courses can be overwhelming and I love to find a way to help those who might feel intimidated. I’m patient and friendly and do my best to understand where students are struggling and to explain in ways they can understand. Over the years I’ve helped many students to overcome their fear of maths and to go far beyond their expectations.

I’m available to tutor algebra, calculus and statistics courses at college or university level.
I can help students from other areas of study (such as engineering, psychology , political science or economics ) taking statistics modules (at the undergraduate or postgraduate level). I can help with probability, hypothesis testing, linear or logistic regression, the general linear model and ANOVA (analysis of variance).
I can also help university students undertaking statistical research projects, by giving guidance on which statistical tests to run using statistical packages such as SPSS or R and on how to interpret the results.
My Experience
In the UK I’ve tutored maths A level and IB students for several years and have worked with many university students (for example economics, engineering, psychology and nursing majors) taking statistics modules or working on research projects requiring statistical analysis.
In the US I've tutored college maths courses in algebra, calculus and statistics for 14 years and in Greece have taught the maths A level syllabus to refugees from Syria and Afghanistan.
I have also worked as a maths writer for 15 years for Pearson, creating maths problems for college-level textbooks (calculus, statistics and algebra) and I currently work as a maths A level examiner for Cambridge International Examinations.

BA in maths (first class), University of Durham, UK
MSc in statistics, University of British Columbia, Canada
MSc in Politics, Environment and Development, SOAS, London
