About Jingyu
Hi there, my name is Jingyu, you can also call me Damien. I’m a 2024 graduate at Trinity College Dublin with a First-Class Honours degree in Mathematics (TR031). My passion for the subject began early—I’ve been self-studying advanced college-level mathematics since my Junior Cert years, which led me to pursue Maths as my major at Trinity. Having a strong mathematical background enables me to explain concepts clearly and in a way that’s easier to understand.
I’ve been tutoring both Junior Cert and Leaving Cert students on other platforms, primarily in person, since 2019 when I was still a Leaving Cert student myself. I aim to share both my passion and professionalism in teaching maths, helping students of all levels build confidence and excel in their exams.
During my time at Trinity, i was also a two-time recipient of the Arthur Lyster Prize in my Junior Freshman and Junior Sophister years for achieving one of the best annual examination results. My degree certificate has been validated by this platform (diploma icon), and I can provide proof of all my qualifications and awards.

To better understand each student's foundation and maximize teaching effectiveness, I prefer to conduct all of my classes in person. I can provide lessons both in English and Chinese.
Payment is flexible — for example, a 1.5-hour lesson may still be charged as a 1-hour session.
Each lesson will last at least one hour. The first lesson is free, during which I will assess your mathematical skills and create a plan to target areas for improvement.
In a typical lesson, I clearly explain all the key concepts within a mathematics topic that the student needs to improve on. Example problems are also worked through to reinforce understanding and ensure the student fully grasps the material. Exam tips and past exam questions are also be reviewed and discussed.
Lessons will preferably take place in a safe, quiet location in town (e.g. Louth County Library), or at the student's home or mine. There is no travel fee within 5 km of my residence near Kilcurry, Dundalk. For every additional kilometre, a charge of one euro will apply.
Since every student has a different mathematical background, each lesson will be carefully tailored to suit their individual needs. I have loads of teaching experience and unique tips on how to excel in Junior and Leaving Cert Maths exams, and I'm more than happy to share them with you.
