About Madeleine
Hi, I’m a graduate from Surrey Maths School with a strong passion for maths, having achieved Grade 9 in both GCSE Maths and Further Maths. I have experience working with a range of students and particularly enjoy helping those who are struggling to build confidence and improve their understanding.
I take a calm, supportive approach to teaching and aim to make maths feel more manageable and less overwhelming. I adapt my lessons to each student, helping them not only learn methods but also understand why they work.

offer personalised GCSE Maths lessons designed to improve both understanding and exam performance. Having achieved Grade 9 in both Maths and Further Maths, I understand exactly what students need to succeed in current exams.
My lessons are mainly online, allowing for flexibility and access to a wide range of resources, but I can also offer in-person sessions in the Guildford area.
For younger students (Years 7–9), I focus on building a strong understanding of core topics by teaching concepts clearly, working through examples together, and then guiding students as they try questions independently.
For GCSE students (Years 10–11), lessons are more focused on exam questions, revision, and developing strong exam technique.
I typically structure lessons by:
* explaining the method step-by-step
* working through examples together
* then helping the student apply it themselves
I use screen sharing and provide high-quality exam questions and resources to support learning. Homework is optional, but I may suggest finishing questions or extra practice where helpful.
I have been tutoring since 2024 and have worked with students from Year 7 to Year 11. I have helped improve confidence, understanding, and students’ ability to approach exam questions effectively.
I am patient, adaptable, and adjust my teaching style depending on how each student learns best. I also work well with students with additional needs, including those who benefit from deeper explanations or alternative ways of understanding concepts.
Lessons are typically one hour long, and I offer flexible scheduling, particularly after A-levels.
I am happy to help with homework, revision, or preparing for exams, and I can provide structured lesson plans if needed.
