About Lesley
I am a fully qualified teacher with a Bachelor of Science from the University of the Witwatersrand and a Postgraduate Certificate in Education from UNISA.
I have over 15 years of experience teaching and tutoring Physical Science to learners from both government and private schools, including students following the CAPS and IEB curricula.
I am a patient and encouraging teacher who enjoys helping learners make sense of difficult Physics and Chemistry concepts. I place a strong emphasis on clear explanations, building genuine understanding and helping students develop the confidence to tackle challenging questions independently.
Over the years, I have worked with learners across a wide range of ability levels, from students who are struggling with the fundamentals to high-achieving learners aiming to improve their marks further. One of the most rewarding parts of teaching for me is seeing a learner move from feeling intimidated by Physical Science to understanding it, enjoying it and becoming more confident in their abilities.
I take my teaching seriously and aim to provide every learner with a professional, supportive and personalised learning experience.

My Physical Science lessons are aimed at Grade 10–12 learners following either the CAPS or IEB curriculum.
Each lesson is tailored to the individual needs of the learner. Depending on the student’s goals, lessons may focus on understanding challenging Physics and Chemistry concepts, developing effective problem-solving techniques, working through exam-style questions, or preparing for tests, examinations and practical investigations.
I place a strong emphasis on helping learners understand the reasoning behind concepts and calculations rather than simply memorising methods. During a typical lesson, we identify areas of difficulty, work through the relevant theory together, and then apply that understanding to carefully selected questions. I adapt the pace and level of explanation to suit each learner and encourage students to ask questions freely throughout the lesson.
My lessons are taught in English and are available either in person in Randburg, Johannesburg, or online via Zoom.
Physical Science can be a challenging subject, and I am passionate about making complex concepts clear, accessible and engaging. My aim is not only to help learners improve their marks, but also to build their confidence and develop a stronger understanding of the subject.
