About Alex
I started playing music at age 17 and quickly realised that my life in the sciences was not going to work out. My dream was to study a degree in music and at age 21 I attended the University of Liverpool to study Classical music and after I graduated I went on to study a Masters of Music with a speciality in composition. Music is my passion and my life and nothing makes me happier than to share it with other people!

I focus my lessons on technique as I believe that this is the basis for all piano playing whether it is Classical, jazz, rock, pop or folk. I teach reading, theory and aural skills as we go along so that the students get a good balance of information and skill development in each lesson. I also feature sight reading in every lesson as I believe it is an important skill and I have seen it transform the playing of students and accelerate their learning. More important than anything else I believe that music should be fun and I always approach the lessons with this in mind.
