About CARLA
I am an ex-rhythmic gymnast, who has represented my country for close to ten years in rhythmic gymnastics. I am a multi-gold medalist gymnast at national level and have previously traveled to Southern African countries for SAGF competitions. While training for these competitions, I also coached rhythmic gymnastics both in school and privately outside of school to beginners and fellow teammates who traveled alongside me to the most recent competition attended at the end of 2025. I am also an individual that is passionate about dance and have partaken in an acrobatic junior associate teaching exam, and passed and am qualified to teach acrobatics under a full instructor. For a year before migrating, I danced professionally with a well-renowned team and was extremely passionate about the effort put in and work produced. I am one that always aims for good outcome both for myself and those that I teach as I see a potential that they may not. I will take my time to ensure that a technique is understood and grasped and gradually improved as more techniques are built onto each other.

The typical length of a lesson taken is between 30-40 minutes as this is the maximum attention span beginners have to learn and grasp material being taught. The best way for me to approach a teaching situation is to begin with slowly helping the individual understand what we are going to be doing, and giving small rewards along the way for good efforts and attempts at the skill. I taught for two years before migrating for university and my main age focus was three years of age to ten years of age, with the occasional classes for teenagers who already have a background and experience in the sport. My target age would be for children between the ages of five and ten as I will be able to help them build and understand the basics and fundamentals needed for this sport and give them instruction on how to improve before they proceed to other levels and areas in the sport.
