About Miranda
Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Combined Science, Separate Science With a decade of teaching experience and seven years of A Level and GCSE exam paper marking, I have gained valuable insights into what it takes to achieve success in Science. I've learned that the key to unlocking top grades lies in developing a strong mindset, mastering exam skills, and utilising effective revision techniques. Throughout most of my teaching career, I have served as the lead A-Level Physics teacher and the head of GCSE Science. I have experience teaching across AQA, Edexcel, and OCR exam boards, and I have also been involved in exam marking for the first two. During my time as a postgrad at Oxford University, I conducted interviews with my tutor for prospective Physics undergraduate students. This allowed me to review numerous applications and personal statements, providing me with knowledge of what a successful Oxford applicant looks like. My expertise lies in GCSE Science, A Level Physics, and Physics-based university applications and preparation.

My initial session will focus on setting goals and creating an action plan for our collaborative journey to achieve those goals. My expertise lies in exam preparation and science education. I offer tuition and coaching in the following areas: - GCSE and A-level students: Exam coaching applicable to any subject, encompassing mindset, exam readiness, time management, and study/revision strategies. - GCSE science students: Tailored for separate science GCSEs or combined science. These sessions may delve into complex content comprehension, exam question analysis, honing scientific skills, and mastering questions likely to appear on exams. - A-level physics students: Concentrating on understanding intricate concepts, maths support for physics, and structuring written response questions. - University applications for science A-level students: I advise on post-18 pathways and STEM options. Offering guidance for UCAS applications and crafting impactful personal statements. - KS3 science students: Complementing classroom learning by revisiting concepts. Ensuring a robust foundation for transitioning to GCSE.
