About Leyla
I am a math and economics tutor in the Washington, D.C. area. I recently finished working at the Treasury Department on economic policy. I have a degree in statistics and economics and a minor in mathematics from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania. I have experience tutoring high school and middle school students but I am open to all ages. I love to share my passion for mathematics and economics and to help students feel confident and come to love these subjects!
When I was in college at the University of Pennsylvania I worked as a Teaching Assistant for 2 years, first for Finance 101 and then for Business Economics and Public Policy. This work involved writing and grading tests, problem sets and essays. As a Teaching Assistant, I also taught two hours of recitations a week, where I would prep materials and review what was covered in class and would guide students through practice questions.
I believe that all students can come to learn and excel in math with some patience and the right tools to make the subject interesting and fun.
I am available to provide traditional tutoring in ACT math, SAT math, Algebra 1, Algebra 2, Geometry, Calculus, Statistics, Economics, and Econometrics. I also enjoy helping students work on their economics papers and senior thesis, and can provide support and feedback in writing an excellent research paper.
