About Brian
With over 25 years of experience at the highest levels of Broadway, television, film & voiceover - and elite training at NYU's MFA program (recipient of Global Fellowship in the Arts), MMC's BFA program, and conservatory work in London - I have been fortunate to learn from the best teachers, and work with some the finest directors, writers and actors in the world. In this time, I've developed a keen understanding of how to impact audiences of all sizes, in any room - whether that's into a camera, in front of an audition panel, or the back row of a New York theater.
Acting is about specificity, ease, dynamics and determination. From memorization to concentration to total immersion, we achieve "greatness" by convincing others (and often ourselves) that we are 100% committed to the character's life & death circumstances - until they seem as authentic and palpable as our own.
I am uniquely suited to elevate on-camera acting auditions (I've booked a lot of work), voiceover careers (same), and everything related to stage acting - from Shakespeare to high comedy to contemporary works from our most celebrated authors.
I care, I have expertise, and I love helping the next generation have access to the truth, training, tips & techniques that will fuel their artistic journey and lead to a life of empathy, expression, charisma & confidence.
I've been accepted into the best schools, earned awards, played leading roles on and off Broadway, appeared in memorable roles on TV, been the voice of popular products, video games & audiobooks, written-directed-and produced my own work, and recently launched Acting (Actually), a collective of superb artists and mentors around the country ... by actors, for actors.
Currently I've chosen to prioritize raising a family outside of the 'twin cities' (NY & LA), which has opened up more time for 1:1 coaching - which I have done for years, leading many actors to book life-changing jobs on stage and television, and gain acceptance into the school of their dreams. I am attracted to truth-telling. As a 1:1 acting mentor and coach, I love illustrating the true power of acting. I love sharing with clients the true challenges of the business. I love knowing that my input can save my clients thousands of dollars and years of frustration. I love seeing actors discover what works best FOR THEM and developing the ability to deliver that magic, again and again. I love knowing I have been of service.
During my career, I coached & directed colleagues and peers into booking successful jobs on stage and on screen (Broadway, recurring roles on TV etc), then started helping MFA and BFA applicants with their monologues, then started working with CEOs and entrepreneurs on performance, communication and interview skills. Now I'm co-founder of Acting (Actually), a collective of acting teachers and coaches, and I focus increasingly on Voiceover & Audiobook coaching as well.

- Step 1: Consultation. Where are you at, what are your goals, what is our definition of success? Let's make a plan for how we can bring the quickest, most direct impact to all of your work as an actor.
- Step 2: Choosing Material. Starting from scratch or adding to your arsenal, let's make sure those monologues, scenes and songs are personal - powered by your deepest desire to tell meaningful stories (comedy or drama).
- Step 3: Foundation to Fine-Tuning. From the core exploration of given circumstances (who am I, who am I talking to, what do I want), to identifying new dynamics, opening & closing beats, and techniques for differing formats (camera, stage, microphone etc), this is the bulk of our work - going from 'good start' to 'great finish'!
- Step 4: Mock Auditions, Interviews & Performances. We will create a template for repeated success, whether that's how to audition for a musical, or how to record an audiobook - getting into a BA/BFA program, or booking a role on television - and then we will learn through true practice: doing it 'as if' for real! Nothing works better than tangible experience, and you deserve to feel fully prepared for your future as an artist.
- Step 5: Review & Renew. How are we feeling? Are we making progress? Do you feel empowered, alive, optimistic, and ready to get out there? What else can we work on, to give your career more scope? As actors, the hardest part is getting up and trying again - and again - over years of trial and effort. Let's take the next step together, or send you on to the next challenge!
Mostly professionals and semi-professionals in or out of graduate school, but increasingly I work with all ages, including beginners who are 11-13 and clients looking to broaden their careers who are 65+

Perfect! I am writing this review to express my sincere appreciation for Brian’s outstanding work as my acting teacher. I've been taking classes with Brian for a year at the time of writing this. I decided to take lessons with Brian not in the hopes of becoming a working actor, but to improve my overall communication, interpersonal, presentation, and interviewing skills; and I got so much more out of our time together than I ever expected.
Brian is skilled not only at articulating acting theory, but also in immediately demonstrating his points. So, regardless of the help I needed to understand something, he was able to accommodate. He excels in identifying both strengths and weaknesses and offering constructive feedback on both fronts. He's also very friendly, kind, patient, and fun to work with. I came in with zero acting experience and I would definitely recommend him to anyone looking for an acting or communication coach and believe he'll be valuable to students of any skill level.Perfect! Brian is a great teacher. He makes you comfortable from the start so you can focus on learning. I’m really enjoying working with him.

Brian pulled back the curtain on the art and craft of acting for me, someone coming to the profession with interest and excitement but no experience. After one session, I understood and foresaw how I might become an actor in this my third career. The day after our first session, I received a script for a indie short. Brian took me through developing the character, analyzing the script, crafting my performance, and knowing what to expect at the audition and (I got the part!) on set the day of filming. His experienced coaching, supportive approach, and nudging me outside of myself a bit made all the difference.
