About Zach
I really like explaining things to other people in a way that makes sense. I have had teachers that cannot explain a concept in a way that I understand, and it makes it really hard to get a good grade. I don't want that for anybody, so I'm dedicated to making sure that the person I'm teaching will understand the lesson or concept.
I haven't ever done tutoring as a job, but I do have plenty of experience with it. I am the oldest of 6 children, and I often helped out my siblings with their homework. I understand the teaching process, and am great at connecting with kids.
I am currently a Sophmore at Weber State University, under the Alethia Presidential Scholarship (fully paid tuition.) I achieved it through maintaining a 3.7 GPA throughout highschool coupled with an ACT score of 32. I'm majoring in Criminal Justice and minoring in Psychology, and am striving to get into Law School to obtain my Juris Doctorate.
I have obtained my High School Diploma with Honors, and have passed every class I have taken with flying colors. I'm particularly good at math, but I'm still very good in all the basic subjects.

When working with a new student, I would immediately start by building rapport. I understand that kids can feel intimidated by meeting a new adult, which can switch their minds away from "learning mode" and make it harder for them to grasp a concept. I also don't want to make it feel like just another boring lecture from school; I want them to be entertained whilst simultaneously understanding the material.
If I were looking to hire a teacher/tutor, I would judge them based on both their effectiveness and their charisma. Learning the material is the main goal, but being able to connect with the student is an essential part to learning the material, as well.
I recently joined the chess club at my university, and I really love going there every week. I've been playing chess since middle school, and have competed in several tournaments, so going there with a bunch of like-minded people to play the game I love makes me feel really happy.
