About Marlon

I've been Coaching Basketball Fundamentals for over Ten years in the Bay Area. My Family and I just moved to Sacramento 2020, January. I'm passionate about the process, the game of Basketball teaches a kid, regardless of their experience. I have taught kids of all levels beginners, novice, advanced. I stick to what works and repition is key to build muscle memory, dribbling, passing, game IQ, shooting, rebounding, defense!! Basketball teaches life lessons, Decipline, Character, Sportsmanship, teamwork, and building life long friendships. I started a Basketball program called Milpitas Swoosh, consisting players I developed from recreational League and competed in National AAU tournament's in Reno. My boys team won Reno Jamonit Championship in memorial tournament in 2019. My girls team Lady Swoosh are 3peat Champions in Reno memorial jamonit in 2017,2018,2019. "Hard work beats talent, when talent doesn't work hard".

I had an athletic younger brother that was 7 years younger than me. My mom and dad were always  working even on weekends so at 12 years old I volunteered to Coach my younger,  at age 5, he excelled in Basketball, flag football, soccer, roller hockey. I believe in Coaching sports with the heart of a teacher. 



I've  Coach for Hank Lopez Community Center Sports League as a kid at 12 years old. I've Coach for Alum Rock Youth Center recreational League "Eastside Elite" San Jose for 8 years and also Coached for Berryessa youth Center, Jr. Warriors Basketball in Milpitas, Team Woo Boys Basketball, Team Lady Woo, Team Swoosh summer girls Team, Weller Allstars Fundamentals Clinic in Milpitas, Assistant Coach for San Jose Highschool JV girls 2019. NJB National Jr. Basketball in San Jose. Coach other sports Soccer, tennis, golf, flag football, roller hockey.

About the lesson

All students will be treated equally, we will start with introducing any new students to existing group and if all students are new we will play a ball passing game that will have each kid say each other's name to whom they pass the ball to.  We usually start with a basic warm up called dribble to the front. The kids will jog in a straight line with one basketball the person in the back of the line will dribble with their weak hand only to the front of the line and pass the to person directly behind, then that person passes to person directly behind till ball gets to back of line then last person dribbles to front, all a while they are jogging working on conditioning having fun. We will line up and spread out with each kid having  a basketball and practice triple  threat. We always do 10 different dribbling drills every practice. 10 passing drills, 10 shooting drills as time permits. We work on these every  practice 



I have worked with all types of students. Kids of all ages Elementary, middle school, and high school, including my two kids who were 1 year apart, my older son Myron and my daughter Rheanna. 



Hire a Basketball Coach with the heart of a teacher, who is a teacher first and a Coach second. Basketball will teach life lessons, trust the process, always work on fundamentals, stay deciplined, always give your 100% on and of the Court.



Recent Event that I'm fond of is "Let them Play", After almost one year of quarantined lifestyle due to Covid 19, it's great to see kids getting back out to play sports safely with new CDC protocols in placed that Coaches are implementing.
