About Rachael
My name is Rachael and I am an undergraduate student studying Environmental Science and Political Science at Arizona State University. I am extremely passionate about science education and feel that education is the most important route to increasing environmental awareness. I therefore am interesting in tutoring students in the sciences. My preferred subjects include chemistry, biology, and environmental/earth sciences, but I can tutor in almost any science category. My coursework includes extensive science courses and I also completed IB Higher Level Biology and Standard Level Environmental Systems and Societies in high school, so I have extensive knowledge of the natural sciences and an idea of how advanced high school science courses are structured. My professional experience with science-related education is as a museum guide at a vintage computer museum in Seattle, WA (Living Computers: Museum and Labs). I worked here for two subsequent summers, offering general assistance to guests and providing self-curated and standard tours of the vintage computer collection.

My typical process for working with a new student is to have one free 30 minute appointment to discuss subject material and study procedures with the student, followed by hour long paid sessions for as long as the student desires. These sessions would ideally be weekly or biweekly, but I am willing to work with the student on scheduling.
Make sure you are comfortable with the tutoring style of your teacher/tutor. This is why I offer 30 minute free sessions to establish material to be covered (for my benefit) and tutoring style (for your benefit).
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
1) How much work do I want to put into improving my understanding of this material?
2) What do I expect out of my teacher/tutor? E.g. do I want extra practice problems, help with homework assignments, etc.?
3) What is my desired outcome of seeking help?
