About Stephanie
I love tutoring students and seeing them understand the topic they didn't understand before. It brings me joy when students begin to love science after they didn't like science.
I love teaching science and being able to relate it to everyday life and how it is important. I have 9 years of teaching high school science. I am composite science certified and for the past 3 years was in charge of teaching biology, integrated chemistry and physics, chemistry, physics, environmental systems, earth and space science. Previously taught PLTW principles of biomedical science and PLTW Human Body Systems (like anatomy and physiology).
Started teaching as I was awaiting a decision on a veterinary school. Taught Integrated Physics and Chemistry and Biology. Was accepted to veterinary school in 2013 at St. Georges Veterinary School in St. Georges, Grenada, West Indies. After a year I had to come back to the US due to a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis. Came back to teaching and have been in teaching ever since. Received a Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction in June 2019.
I have taught high school science for the past 9 years. For the past three years I taught at an alternative school where I was in charge of biology, integrated physics and chemistry, chemistry, physics, environmental systems, earth and space sciences. In the past taught PLTW Principles of Biomedical Science and PLTW Human Body systems (like anatomy and physiology)

Getting to know about them. Ask the students their hobbies, extracurriculars, extracurricular sports they are involved in. What grade they are in and what classes they are having difficulty with and what classes they like.
For 7 of my 9 years I worked with hispanic and african americans predominantly that were low socioeconomic. During those 7 years the majority of my students were also ESL and curriculum had to be differentiated to their learning. I have also taught students that were special ed and autistic in which curriculum had to be differentiated to their learning needs.
Don't give up on the work that you are trying to do. It will get easier when you understand it. We will get through this together.
A recent event that I was extremely fond of was this past graduation of MEA. These students overcame the obstacle of transitioning from in person learning to virtual learning since spring break of the previous school year. They managed to succeed under these conditions and pass STAAR testing and pass their classes in a virutal setting.
