About Myro
I am versatile and have experience ranging from tutoring young children (age 5) to adults (40+)
I enjoy seeing the lightbulb go off when a student has understood a certain concept.
I do not have formal training as a teacher but I begain tutoring in my freshman year of college. I was a part-time tutor and in my classes would hold group meetings where I would offer (for free!) to answer questions to help my peers prepare for their exams. Later on, I decided to offer my services for a small fee and was referred by friends to increase my client base.
I have a Bachelor's degree in Psychology and a minor in Chemistry from The Pennsylvania State University. I have previous training in ESL tutoring when I volunteered as an English tutor for a local Korean church and I also have experience in tutoring school subjects at the elementary level as well as on the collegiate level. I have helped with homework, exams, and even helped to edit dissertations.

Typically I have an interview with the student to meet them, and get an idea of how they interact with me so I can come up with a personalized lesson plan. I will go over what I can do to help them succeed in homework or reviewing their course material and can change the lesson plan according to how the student responds in the first few meetings. We will go with what works with the individual as every person is unique in how they learn.
I have worked with young students on the elementary level as well as international students (adults) who would like to learn English.
My advice is to see if you can figure out what type of learner you are. Do you like a lesson plan written up for you so you can follow along better? Do you like lots of pictures/diagrams to help you visualize critical concepts? If you're more of a listener, make sure that you and teacher are able to communicate very well so there are no issues!
We are in the process of adopting a dog, and having it in our house is an absolute joy! Everyone in the house is learning a lot about patience and discipline because taking care of a dog is not as easy as it seems. It is definitely rewarding for the companionship a furry friend can provide.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Mastering a subject or just staying on track requires consistency. If the student has the time to commit even once a week to reviewing the material for an hour or so, then they are well on their way doing really well and the learning/teaching relationship with the teacher can be really fruitful. The more they are willing to communicate, the more the teacher can figure out how to best help them. So do not be shy in asking questions!
