About Zach
I've had the privilege of working with biology students at a local high school as a teacher's aide. During that time, I realized first-hand that some students require different approaches in order to understand the material. Not only have I learned different ways to help convey the matieral, but I've also developed study habits and learning techniques while I was an undergrad that may help students as well.
Seeing the "lightbulb" go off for a student after they've been struggling to grasp a concept was one of the most satisfying parts of being a teacher's aide. We've all had certain topics that we just didn't understand, and all it took was a certain explanation for things to just click. Not only is it satisfying for the student, but it's also rewarding when you're the person who helped make the breakthrough. Tutoring is also a great learning experience. I think that there's no better way to identify gaps in your own knowledge than by teaching someone. By no means do I claim to know everything, and there will certainly be topics that I'll have to look up. This means that I'll not only reinforce material that I do already know, but I'll also be learning new material as well.
