About Mikiko
Hi! I am a current 4th year medical student who is taking a year off to pursue my masters. Because of my extended availability, I am interested in tutoring for the upcoming school year. I began tutoring high school and middle school students in various subjects through my college (Columbia University) and have been hired through my medical school to tutor medical students for the past three years. I have also helped tutor the MCAT/SAT and enjoy helping with test prep on an individual basis. Additionally, I have been babysitting since I was 13, and feel very comfortable helping with homework and task management. My preferences are:

- MCAT, SAT, test prep
I enjoy tutoring because it's a time to make an impact in someone's life. Similarly to why I chose medicine, it's an opportunity to support someone in becoming their best. I truly believe that we are all capable of educational success, and I enjoy using effective communication and positive encouragement to make sure we acheive high standards. I also really love kids and enjoy honing my skills working with kids to strengthen my future practice as a pediatric psychiatrist.
I am a medical student who is currently enrolled as a tutor through my school. I have been tutoring in medical school for three years. Prior to that, I was hired as a tutor through my college, Columbia University, where I tutored college and high school students.

First we analyze the goal: Is this test prep or studying for a class? Will you be expanding on basic concepts or learning something for the first time? Do you need task management help or any additional skills training?
Set a timeline/expectations: expectation management is the key to success. What can we do in the alloted time? What strategies will work best in the time we have?
Regular tutoring/homework schedule: Having a regular schedule helpes maintain a steady understanding and expectations. We meet and have the same process every time. I try to make sure there is consistency, while still making it a fun and engaging experience.
I try to do the first session for free (!!), where we identify areas of improvement, best learning style, and schedule before actually agreeing to work together. My goal is to make sure you are learning the material, which I hope will help you ace the class :]

Mikiko is an amazing who tutor who meets students where they are at. She is excellent at getting to the root of student’s understanding and working with students to find full comprehension.
