About Luis
Hello! My name is Luis Zuniga. I recently graduated Middle Tennessee State University with a B.S. in Biochemistry and minor in Mathematics. I am new to tutoring, but I am confident in my ability to explain basic math and science concepts in a way most can understand. I have a true passion for the subjects I wish to tutor, and I will be returning to MTSU this fall as a graduate student working towards a M.S.
I decided to get into tutoring because I simply love the material. I have a deep appreciation for learning, and tutoring is a way I can share my passion for the subjects I enjoy. I was a student who sought the help of tutors several times in my academic career, so I understand how critical a good tutor can be. I hope I can inspire learning through being a good tutor!
I took 25 credit hours of mathematics courses for my mathematics minor. I am confident I can help students with ACT level math, Algebra 1 and 2, basic geometry, and even some calculus.
I took 24 credit hours of biology classes for my B.S., the equivalent of a biology minor. I also was a recipient of MTSU's URECA grant, a grant given to student researchers. In my research project developed my biological intuition in a lab setting, while also learning some biostatistics. I also took 38 credit hours of chemistry courses, including general chemistry, organic chemistry, biochemistry, and physical chemistry. I maintained a 3.6 GPA for all of my major courses.
I always have enjoyed STEM classes growing up, and have recently discovered an enjoyment of teaching and explaining science/math ideas. While I am new to private tutoring, I wanted to start doing this because I truly love talking about (and re-learning) chemistry/biology/math ideas. Not only does the student benefit from my experiences and tips on learning the material, but I get an opportinity to further solidify my own understanding, allowing me to explain things even more clearly.
