About Carol

I have B.S. degrees in Chemistry and Biology from UC Irvine, and a Master's in Music and PhD in Chemistry from UC Santa Barbara. I'm well-versed in Thermodynamics, Statistical Mechanics, and Quantum Mechanics, and will tailor my tutoring to your needs! Over 15 years experience tutoring individuals and small groups (up to 15).

I have tutored biology, organic chemistry, physical chemistry, analytical chemistry, physics, math, GRE, MCAT, French, English, voice,p and violin over the years and enjoyed helping each and every one of my students learn about the subjects they were working on and about themselves!

About the lesson

First session is a half priced consultation. I get to know you, your learning style, your syllabus, and your study habits, while also covering material. I usually end with a suggested study plan for your needs, as well as test taking strategies.

Carol is by far the best tutor I’ve ever had! She’s extremely patient and thorough with the material by making sure that you understand the fundamentals in order to learn the more complex concepts. Instead of doing repetitive calculations, you’ll understand the physical meaning and importance behind each step of the problem. She also creates color coded notes along the way that have helped me immensely and saved me SO much time when I’m struggling to condense and make sense of the material. At the end of every session she creates a personalized study plan which is great because every student has different learning styles/habits. Learning the material from somebody who has a passion for teaching and helping students makes a huge difference and you’ll definitely experience that with Carol!

Carol is very hands on in her teaching style and does not let you be happy with where you are at. Carol does a really great job at challenging you as a student without belittling you or making you feel like you are doing something wrong. I went from feeling like I was two weeks behind to quite literally being two weeks ahead in Physical Chemistry in under a month. I highly recommend Carol to anyone struggling in Physical Chemistry that learns well from guided lecture and notes.
