About Stephanie
Hi there! I graduated from UMass Amherst in 2018 with high honors and a GPA >3.9 as a pre-med student, scoring >90% on MCAT, with over 5 years of tutoring experience. I have a BS in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology, and a BS in Psychology/Neuroscience. I have tutored a wide range of students from diverse backgrounds and levels of understanding across biology, chemistry, biochemistry, organic chemistry, psychology, statistics, and more. I am particularly passionate about biochemistry and organic chemistry, and I was a TA for both classes as an undergraduate. I also had experience tutoring students with hearing disabilities as well as ESL students.
As an ESL student myself, I have overcome many hurdles in my academic studies and I know how to study effectively - definitely not by re-reading your lecture slides and highlighting your textbooks! I use evidence-based methods to study effectively myself, and I can help you to do the same :) Just reach out and we can see if I can lend you that helping hand!
Starting my freshman year in college, I began holding group tutoring sessions for general chemistry and introductory statistics. In my sophomore year, I continued my tutoring services and expanded the subjects into other pre-med classes including biology and biochemistry. I further became an organic chemistry lab TA and continued the position until graduation. In my junior year, I was a supplemental instructor holding a weekly lecture-style review for ~200 students for an introductory biology class, as well as a one-on-one tutor for a student struggling with organic chemistry. I enjoy helping students to excel in their coursework and help them in finding the joy behind rigorous pre-med classes!

I will first ask the student to fill out a questionnaire that I created to better understand their strength, weakness, struggles, immediate needs, as well as long term goals. Following that, I can assess and provide recommendations as to how many sessions we should aim for weekly to achieve that goal, and what are our lesson plans.

Be sure to understand that having a tutor who can help you in completing your homework will not help you in your career and your learning in the long run!
