About Alex
I provide students with practical tech skills they could start using right after the lesson is finished. My goal is to learn about my students' motivations and ambitions to guide them towards personal/professional success whether that be earning college credit or making their first video game.
I enjoy connecting with people and helping them to learn new things. My philosophy is to "teach a man to fish," and seeing students apply their skills to projects or other endeavors that are meaningful to them is a rewarding experience for both of us. I'm enthusiastic about technology and problem solving and I want to share this enthusiasm with my students.
I have a B.S. in Computer Science with knowledge of Web Design and Development, Game Development, the AP Computer Science exam, and Java (Object-oriented programming).
I have been a web designer for 5 years and a substitute teacher for 2 years.

For the first few minutes, I will talk to the student to learn about their goals and interests as well as any challenges they are facing with the subject or topic. Next, I will overview the lesson and introduce the topic at hand prepared for any questions the student may have. Finally, I will review the ideas and concepts from the lesson to assess the student's progress and what areas we may need to work on in the future.
