About Elliot
I have enjoyed tutoring and helping people to succeed in STEM subjects since high school when I started tutoring friends, younger classmates, and middle schoolers. I love finding new ways to engage with the material whether that be through analogies, youtube channels, or video games.
I am an active software developer in the industry and studied Computer Science and Mathematics at the University of Chicago. I took over 10 AP exams and was an IB graduate recieving 5's on all of the exams. I placed in the 99th percentile for the SAT and ACT exams and was a AP National Scholar.
My fiance is a General Education Elementary School Teacher who has years of experience teaching children aged 1-10 and is also available to assist in tutoring and helping teach a variety of subjects!
I got started teaching in high school when I realized that I had a lot of friends who I was able to help by giving helpful hints and analogies. I then started taking some small tutoring jobs for students in middle school and grades beneath primarilly in math and biology. Afterwards, I continued to pursue teaching because I really enjoy helping people learn and appreciate STEM.
I studied STEM extensively in high school and college. I also am currently working professionally in the field and am exposed to it regularly.

When working with a new student, I like to first like to get to know them and their background with the subject material they need tutoring in. I find it best to know what other subjects they are passionate about to help better connect ideas between subjects. Additionally, I find that learning about a student's fun-life can also help to connect the material to their lives, which makes it more approachable in understanding.
I have worked with a wide variety of students ranging in age from 12-60's. This group has spanned a variety of education levels and backgrounds as well.
When looking for a teacher in STEM, make sure that you find someone who truly enjoys the field and is able to explain things in the manner that best makes sense to you as a learner. Some people are visual, some people need hard data, and other people need examples in different media to help understand the topics. Not all teachers are able to provide this - so I recommend figuring out what works best for you and finding a teacher that can support that.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
I recommend students really try to pinpoint the subjects/topics that they are not understanding and to what degree. It's one thing to say "I don't understand why absolute value works the way it does" vs "I don't understand why numbers are the way they are". Both questions are answerable, but they require completely different approaches.

Perfect! Elliot Levy is a great tutor! He's very professional, but personable, and flexible with his schedule. He is also very knowledgeable and experienced in his field. He made sure to explain step by step what he was doing and was open and honest during the entire session. I couldn't recommend enough.
Perfect! Post tutoring review: Thanks to Elliot I was able to succeed and secure an A in my first JAVA course in my graduate degree. At the start I truly believed I could not pass the course but with the guidance of Elliot I was able to pass with flying colors and truly understand Java for my future courses. Definitely worth the investment!
Perfect! My son adores him and I highly recommend him. He makes learning fun and my son looks forward to every session. You can probably find a cheaper tutor, and I did, but quickly realized you get what you pay for and there's no point in wasting time or money. I didn't make the mistake twice. If you want to learn coding or computer programming, Elliot is the guy for the job.
Perfect! Literally the best tutor ever, Elliot really cares about having his students understand the concepts and the reasoning behind each part of the code, which personally has helped me succeed in my Java course. I was definitely struggling at first but ever since being tutored by Elliot I feel more confident and prepared for homeworks/exams. 10/10!

I have generally tended to negotiate price with students or their guardians to help fit their needs on a case by case basis. The diffculty of the subject material, the length of time to prepare, and the amount of time necessary for tutoring all factor into pricing.
