About Julia
In college, I studied English with an emphasis in creative writing. While in school, I submerged myself in the campus literary scene: working at the literature and language foundation on campus; leading a grassroots creative writing reading series; serving as the editor-in-chief of our 100+ page literary magazine for two years.
Following college, I tutored English, reading, ACT test prep, and essay composition for half a year before moving to New York to pursue a career in book publishing. I worked for a literary agent for a year before moving to a prestigious publishing house, where I was on staff for three and a half years.

I think it is incredibly important to establish trust between student and tutor. I like to spend some time during every session getting to know my students, specifically their interests, hobbies, and things they enjoy. The real learning begins once a student feels that their tutor is engaged and both interested invested in them as a unique individual. This relationship is important to cultivate at the beginning and throughout the tutoring experience.
I evaluate not only issues and problem areas, but specifically where the breakdown occurred and how to rebuild. I am especially passionate about working with students who struggle with anxiety and confidence both in and out of the classroom.
