About Kostantyn
Hello!
I'm Kostantyn Osuna, formerly known as "Groteskd" from when I used to work as a Graphic Designer. I currently live in the U.S.A. but come from Venezuela.
I've been drawing for most of my life, and I have a passion for teaching people who are also passionate about what they want to learn.
I will help students understand the basics of drawing. That includes composition, light source, shading, structure, and perspective. Most of my experience comes from perspective and analytic drawing.
My goal is to make you, students, understand the basics of perspective, anatomy, and shading so you can achieve amazing results.
I've been drawing since I was six years old. I was in art class till I was eleven, but I kept on drawing till I graduated from High School in 2012.
I got a Graphic Design Diploma after studying for four years. I was certified by my college to teach drawing lessons to other students from my college for three years. I was hired by my college as a teacher in 2016, but due to the increasing danger in Venezuela, I had to move out to the US.
I can also give advice on Photography and Graphic Design, we don't have to stick only to drawing advices, everything is connected!
My accomplishments:
- Graphic Design Diploma after studying for 4 years
- 4 years of experience working in the Graphic Design industry
- 3 years of experience in teaching analytic and perspective drawing in college
- Participated in various art events in Venezuela and in the U.S.A.

Everything.
From the interaction with my students to the learning process.
More than results though, I love to see students progressing and getting better.
When I was in college, I was approached by the owners/directors of the place and some other teachers and was offered a job as a teacher.
Since Venezuela was in a crisis and there was a lack of teachers, we had a meeting to see what could be done about this and they decided to turn to the best students of every year.
I was a Graphic Designer for years and I've been drawing since I was little.
I've been through gesture drawing, perspective drawing, coloring, color theory, art history, etc.

I start by asking some questions.
First, I want to know what's the limit of their knowledge, if they need to learn the basics for the first time or just review them to be better.
Then, Straight to drawing. Depending on the level, we need to start by drawing basic shapes and understanding how composition works on a picture or drawing.
If the student is more advanced, we just review the basics and see where the student is lacking, so we can fill in the gaps.
I think the correct question would be what types of students haven't I worked with.
I've had my fair share of troublemakers and also my fair share of excellent, exceptional students. But in the end, even the troublemakers learned and managed to be a better person and student.
I try to reach every student on a personal level and try to understand their struggles, fears, and hopes.
Always look for a teacher that's willing to answer every single question you have and teach you the same thing a hundred times.
There are no stupid questions, and there is always a new way to explain something which is not easily understandable.
I had a student who was terrible at drawing at the beginning and she kept not understanding the basics of perspective and how the shapes interact within a space.
We managed, throughout several weeks, to rent a place and a model and practice along with some other students and she got better with time.
The next year, she was offered the same teaching job I had when I taught her because she turned out to be one of the best students. Not because of her results, but because of her progress.

That depends on what the student wants to learn or understand.
Teaching basic composition and how shapes work and interact with each other is not the same as explaining how the light source affects the tridimensionality of a shape and how it affects the shading.
For me, all prices are negotiable. Provided the price is reasonable, not too much, but also not too little. The student life is a hard one and most people should understand the struggles of having no money but being interested to learn a subject.
