About Tara
I am a professional artist with an online art gallery which features my own artwork as well as other artists and illustrators. As part of my services on this website, I have teamed up with one of my artists to provide these lessons for you depending on the medium.
The duo lessons are for drawing and oil painting only.
I wanted to be an artist ever since I was old enough to hold a crayon. I studied Studio Art at the College of Wooster, Biology minor. I continue my education taking classes from local community colleges as well as free online education exchange courses, and workshops.
I have worked with local art galleries and various non-profit organizations, each of which have allowed me to express my creative nature.
My artwork has been in galleries around the World, and I remain an avid supporter of local art.
Not only do I create and teach fine art, but I am also a crafter. As a little girl I was always making crafts with my grandmother, creating gifts for my mom and learning along the way! She taught me how to crochet among other delightful things. Later, in college, I was taught how to knit and have picked up new techniques throughout the years, including pearls and cables :).
I enjoy helping others find their creative niche as well as teaching them how to use various tools to create.
I have worked for non-profit organizations where I demonstrated creative or science themed projects with creative ,hands on learning.
I have a Bachelor's Degree from the College of Wooster in Studio Art which includes a year-long Independent Thesis (I incorporated printmaking, drawing, and photography in this project). I studied abroad in Cortona,Italy where I completed 3 courses over a summer (painting, graphic design, and B&W photography). I have continued taking courses since graduation either online or local workshops. I have a Biology Minor which partially influences my artwork.

I like to talk with each student on day one to learn about their experiences with art materials, what they like and don't like, what they are currently working on and view their current portfolio, if they have one. I like to talk about their goals and what they hope to learn or get out of our sessions. If the student likes a particular art style, I will introduce and create a lesson around masters and the art of that particular art genre. My lessons are educational, experimental, and fun!
Toddler and early childhood to middle grade and high schoolers.
If you are a new student, be patient with yourself and open to critique. I have been creating for a long time and I still find myself frustrated at times. When that happens, I step away and come back with fresh eyes. It's also helpful to have a fellow student or artist look at your work and discuss what they see and if they have any recommendations to reslove your frustration or problem you are experiencing.
Summer workshops that provide free educational fun for kids. Some events were science themed projects. Other events we created art projects.

Details
I charge hourly and by medium. Oil paint and canvas is obviously going to be more expensive than a piece of charcoal, pen or graphite pencil and paper.
I can make recommendations and students can purchase their own supplies and have them ready when we meet, or, I can bring my supplies and charge an additional fee so I can replenish my stock.
Once the medium is chosen and who is providing the materials we can determine cost for supplies and the hourly rate, or just the hourly rate.
