About Elinore
I am the illustrator of The Cosmic Dancer Oracle, and am a professional illustrator of book covers, card art, and more. I have professionally taught Photoshop in a college setting and acrylic painting in a "drink and sip" setting. I love helping people express themselves and see their dreams come to life. I have a lifetime of art education, and am now offering my services to you!
I love seeing that moment when a student has a shift in understanding and is able to create what they envision in their heads, or when they are able to overcome and concept or technique they are struggling with. I teach "how to see" as much, or more so than how to paint and draw, because I believe that is often the key to making your visions come to life. These concepts often reach far further than making art. My students have told me that they have had baggage about making art, maybe they were told they couldn't draw by a teacher or a parent, and they feel like I help them overcome that. Having fun and enjoying what you do and treating struggles like games is so important to the learning process.
I come from a long line of teachers. Many members of my family have been or are teachers. My grandfather was even a high school principal!
I took a class in pedagogy at CCA, and taught a class of kindergarteners for a whole semester, and that really whet my appetite for it. Watching a student's mindset shift from "I can't do it" to "I love doing this" is pretty addictive, and when they come up with ideas I hadn't even thought of, it's like icing on the cake.
I have a BFA in Fine Arts with a focus in Painting and Drawing as well as Conceptual and Informational Art from San Francisco State. I spent one year at CCA (California College of Arts and Crafts.)
I have a certificate of completion for the 2-year Art Director program from Miami Ad School.
I have spent the last five years cultivating my digital painting and visual development/entertainment arts skills with online programs and mentorships with people who work and have worked with companies such as Disney, Pixar, and Dreamworks.

I ask what their goals and interests are and work with them to break down their larger goals into smaller chunks, and tackle those. I ask them what they struggle with and figure out ways that work personally for them to overcome those struggles. Not feeling inpired? Colors always turning out "wrong"? Can't draw feet? Want to add emotion or motion to a painting? I'm here to serve you. If the question is just, "how can I get better?", the answer lies in what is important to you?
Then, I create activities and practices that will tackle and improve the student's goals. We learn to critique our work with an objective eye in order to learn and improve, and always have a learner's mindset.
I've worked with student age 5 to "who knows, but very wisened" in group and private lessons. I have taught art, Photoshop, design, dance, and English students professionally, so I like to think of myself as a well rounded teacher who can think in terms of learning from many angles.
Make sure your teacher asks you questions about what you want as a student. Look at their portfolios and social media online to determine if their personality and style will be a good fit for you. Have patience with yourself and the process, and congratulations on making an investment in your creativity and skills!
There was this one time when I was teaching acrylic painting in a "paint and sip" class, and a student came up to me during the break, and told me that they had all this baggage around making art, and that I had helped them release it and they were having so much fun and actually liked what they were making, that they didn't even care. They were a bit tearful, and it reminded me how impactful and healing creating art can be.
