About Latoya
I focus on developing the individual style of the student and not trying to make them into robots. I do this by focusing in on what the student needs and what the student is looking for. I am pretty open to creating a variety of different types of classes, incuding online courses or online live video lessons.
I am very passionate about painting. It is pretty much apart of who I am. I love bringing creativity to the world as well... one student at a time.
I fell into teaching students when I was 13 yrs. I was volunteering as a Youth Worker assistant as a summer job, and I started teaching individuals younger than me the art skills that I learned. In that moment i noticed that I had a skill for teaching and enjoyed it. A group of 3 students, quickly turned into a group of 10, then 20, then 30.
I later became a preschool art teacher
I started off self-taught (reading books and watching Bob Ross). Then, I started picking the brain of my grade school art teachers... who adored my inquizative mind. Then through experimentation, followed by taking graphic design and then fashion design courses in college.

The first step is identifying the style of the student, this is important to figure out first, so that I can gage the skill level and technique. My goal is to help enhance the good habits by reducing or removing bad habits.
I have worked with a very broad range of students.
Children/Youth: 2 to 18 yrs
Adults
Avoid hiring egotisitcal teachers. Teachers who are very egotisitical (meaning they boast too much about their own works) may do more damage than good, since they aren't focusing on developing you.
A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
A good way to start is by presenting some pros and cons about your experience with art. That will help the art teacher understand your struggles and where they can be of better assistance.
