About Ritu

I have a Master of Science in Finance (MSF) from John's Hopkins University.

Prior to grad school, I was a finance tutor for the finance department for Sam Houston State University (SHSU), and have been tutoring students in finance and statistics for a few years now.

I currently work full time as a financial data analyst at a small fintech firm.

I genuinely enjoy finance and find it very interesting, and have been in this industry (studying + work) for over 10 years. My passion for the subject helps to make such a dry subject more fun and easier to understand.

I am proficient in Excel as well as Python, and am able to tutor most areas in business/accounting, although my speciality is finance.

I am more than happy to hop on a quick call so that I can demonstrate my teaching skills and knowledge; for any interested clients.

I was the finance tutor for the finance department at Sam Houston State University for two years where I provided private tutoring as part of the university's free services to any student that required help with their finance courses.

I have a Masters of Science in Finance (MSF) from John's Hopkins University, as well as an undergraduate degree in Business Administration, majoring in Finance from Sam Houston State University.

Start with understanding what the student is currently struggling with, as well as areas of difficulty and then create a tailored study plan for the student depending on their study style.

I have worked with all different kinds of students, each student is unique and I believe that its important to really understand why they are struggling. There are multiple factors that goes into performance other than the material alone. As someone who suffers from ADHD, I have spend many years exploring different learning techniques and organization methods, all of which are important in succeeding in a subject.

Talk to the tutor, see if you feel comfortable with them, and if what they say makes sense/is helpful. Don't be afraid to say no to people who give you unhelpful advice. Advice that is helpful to some, may not be helpful for others, so it is important to find someone who gives you exactly what you need.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Don't start off by believing that you're just not good at something. For example, 'math is boring, and I am just not good at it, I just need to pass this course'.

Although things may come easier to some than others, you are putting yourself at a disadvantage by assuming you aren't good at something/will never be good at it.

A lot of the times, all you need is a good teacher to explain things in a way that makes sense to you, and believe in you.
