About Alton
I love tutoring and that is unquestionably an understatement. My passion for tutoring started a long time ago in Primary School and it became an inferno in University. I feel fulfilled whenever a student finally understands an idea, a concept, or a problem and how to solve it. It is this raging fire to help students achieve, grow, and excel that I have provided for many years and will continue to do here.
Here are my key steps for goal achievement:
1. Have clear and measurable goals
2. Formulate a specific action plan for each goal
3. Help the student to believe and focus on their goals
4. Use engaging feedback and reflection on progress to stay focus on target
5. Monitor and revise action plans if needed
6. Celebrate achievements

I believe in a holistic approach to students learning, growing, and accomplishing their goals. This initial contact usually takes about 30 minutes to an hour.
There are a few things that are important for the process to be successful:
a) Face-to-face meeting or a chat on the phone to see if we have rapport.
b) Finding out how they feel about the subject and having a tutor.
c) An assessment of their current situation.
d) Agreeing on what is required.
e) Are they committed to doing the work?
f) Co-creatively set clear measurable goals.
g) I commit to provide knowledge, support, and accountability as we focus on his or her goals.
