About Matt
While I teach a variety of aspects of guitar playing, my absolute favorite subject is technique, specifically for shredding. Speed, efficiency, and tension are some of the most vital concerns in the pursuit of being an accurate, repeatable shredder.

From taking lessons of my own and attending Berklee College of Music for 2 years, I have a good grasp on basic, intermediate, and some advanced music theory.
If you want to be able to keep up at a jam session, or just learn some songs to play for others, I can help you with that. But if your goal is to take your shredding to the next level, I'm your guy.
When it comes to technique, I use an engineering-based aproach rather than the "whatever works" method that some teachers might suggest. Factors such as tension, efficiency, picking mechanics, even geometry are all involved in my approach to making you the best shredder you can be. My love for math and music are combined in the journey of shredding, which makes it a subject I can cover to no end. Both music and math/problem solving have been passions of mine for as long as I can remember, and the next best thing to solving a problem yourself is to help someone else through it too.
After creating an instagram page, I recieved so many questions about guitar playing that I decided to offer lessons, as a much more valuable and effective way to help with guitar playing than responding to a message.
I have played guitar for 13 years, both self taught and with teachers. I have studied with players like Rick Graham, Wes Hauch, and Joe Stump.
Besides guitar, I have played cello, bass, piano, and drums.
I attended Berklee College of Music from 2012-2015

First and foremost, I like to establish what a student's goals are on guitar. Many have the impression that there are some "need to know" things, but my take is that everyone should carve their own path with the things they enjoy the most.
After establishing these goals, I'll tailor my lessons to put the student on the path to reaching them. I have tons and tons of exercises, both collected from teachers, and designed myself, to help all aspects of playing. But exercises are only the tip of the iceberg, learning comes from discussion, playing, trial and error, feedback and critique, and all other necessary parts that make a valuable lesson
I have worked with beginners, both young and old, as well as intermediate-advanced players looking to hone their technique. I can teach the basics of most guitar related subjects, but my expertise narrows down to technique and shredding.
Don't necessarily tie yourself down to one teacher. There's nothing wrong with finding someone who's a great fit and continuing lessons with them, but there's just so much knowledge out there held by so many people, I think the best approach is to soak up all you can from whoever you can.
A student of mine from Kazakhstan posted a video of him at a jam session, using the fretboard exercises I had given him to navigate the neck rather than staying in one box. It was really nice to see a direct impact my teaching had on someone's playing.
