About Jasmine
Throughout the last few years of self-discovery and self-improvement, I have found the one thing I truly have a passion for is helping my community and those around me. As someone who loves to work with others and discuss ideas to reach solutions, I combine my passion for service and enthusiasm for teamwork to provide an optimal learning environment for my tutees. I put my genuine best in my endeavors, and the results always show!
As a current senior at Arcadia High School, I have a cumulative GPA of 3.94 after having taken 8 AP courses and 1 Honors. Out of those 8, the 5 I am currently taking are AP Comparative Politics, AP Statistics, AP Environmental Science, AP French, and AP English Literature, with A’s in each of them. I am more well-versed in French, Math (Algebra or Statistics), and English (Composition or Literature). However, I am able to tutor lower grade levels in all subjects.
Throughout my student career at Arcadia High School, I dedicated a lot of my time performing service for my community. Some of my experiences include:
Reading Partners LA
I worked with students in need at Jefferson Elementary School to help enhance their literary capabilities & transition into proficiency (or above) for their grade level. Skills I practiced with my students vary from making inferences to developing more complex vocabulary.
Peer Mentors
Currently, I work with students at my school that are diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder to help them adapt to the social environment. As we practice conversational skills and boundaries, I have mutually learned more about interacting with peers diagnosed with learning disabilities.
National Honor Society
As a member of the National Honor Society, I tutored students in need every Tuesday and Thursday in French and Algebra 2.
English Teacher in Pingtung County, Taiwan
Over the summer, I volunteered as an English Teacher for underprivileged students in Taiwan. I walked them through pronunciation, vocabulary, memorization, grammar, and more.
Senior Men and Women (SMW)
As a member of SMW, a service organization on my campus, I have worked with students with disabilities to help them recognize their emotions and how to navigate them properly. With this organization, I have also read to elementary students to help them enhance their ability to understand different genres of literature.

When working with a new student, I start off by getting a feel for their thought process and how they come to their solutions. With that, I am able to create a personalized style of teaching for each student that I help. For example, some students are more visual learners, so I will use lots of diagrams and pictures to help them understand the subject matter. Other students learn by forming connections, so I will help them think of an analogy or cognitive link that they can associate the term with to help them remember it.
