About Adelia
As a Comparative Studies In Literature and Culture major at Occidental College, I have an extensive knowledge of classic literature, essay-writing, and language (English, Russian, Greek, and Spanish). Furthermore, I know how to teach any type of student. I was trained to teach students of all ages at an education internship and have been hired as a teaching assistant various times. This means that I can accomodate your learning preferences into my tutoring methods. You can check out my resume and experience at my LinkedIn: (concealed information)
As a teaching assistant, I developed my ability to accommodate students with different attitude, issues, and learning styles. I utilized this ability when hosting office hours for a Cognitive Science course. One student, Claire, always came to my office hours. She asked all the right questions and studied constantly. Yet, despite her hard-work, she never achieved her goals. One time, she came in with bags under her eyes to ask me some questions about the upcoming test. Out of concern, I asked how she was doing. She confided in me that she felt overwhelmed, anxious, and exhausted. In response, I shared my mental health story and encouraged her to take some time for self-care. After our interaction, I didn't see Claire as often, but she received a better grade on her following paper. By integrating mental health advocacy into my teaching, I helped Claire succeed. Helping individuals find how they learn best like this brings me so much joy and pride.
