About Niyla
Hello! My name is Niyla, and I cannot wait to meet you! I am currently studying at Canisius College for Adolescence Education with a concentration in English. English truly is my passion. Ever since I was a little girl, I have loved writing stories. Now, I read about 3 books a week, along with writing in my free time. Last year, I did an internship and was an assistant teacher for a 6th grade Reading class. (It was the best part of my day). Currently, I nanny 2 school-age children (second and seventh grade). This will be a perfect opportunity for me to get more experience with children or high-school-age neighbors! I won't disappoint you!
I have never been a certified teacher, although I am in the process! I was an assistant teacher, and my mentor wouldn't mind giving a reference if you need it!
I have completed a school year's worth of internship with a middle-school Reading/English classroom. I am also currently enrolled in college, so I have a flexible schedule and have experience with children through nannying, babysitting, tutoring, and teaching.

In the first session, I will understand what the student needs the most help with. This way, I can plan by preparing practice problems/worksheets/readings. If they require help with homework, they are more than welcome to bring it to our meeting to work on together, and I can give them good strategies for trying problems themselves.
I have worked with a whole range of students. From teaching elementary age to high-school students, write college essays!

I prefer $25 per hour. This will cover the tutoring session's costs. My phone number will also be given to the student/parent for any additional homework questions they need immediate help with.
