About Laura
I have worked with students from kindergarten through 12th grade, providing services that range from decoding and fluency practice to essay writing and editing. I have a B.A. in English: literature and creative writing and I am currently earning a Master of Arts in Teaching in secondary English.
I love working with students to make reading and writing fun, accessible, and rewarding. I am especially excited about essay writing and editing.
I have a Bachelor of Arts in English: literature and creative writing, which included a two-year research project in creative nonfiction writing. Throughout my undergraduate education, I worked as a teaching assistant in an introductory literature course and spent time tutoring elementary students in literacy skills. Last year, I worked as an Academic Tutor in a public elementary school, supporting literacy and math skills development in students in kindergarten through fourth grade. I am currently earning a Master of Arts in Teaching in secondary English and have plenty of experience with essay writing and editing.

In our first meeting, we discuss your goals, challenges, and learning style. Based on the type of work we'll be doing, you either bring an assignment to focus on or I provide skills-based activities and practice. We debrief at the end of the meeting to make a plan for our next session.
