About Lisa
Hi, I've been an English teacher in New Jersey for almost 25 years and I still love it!! I've taught students in grades 7 through 12 over the course of my career. Additionally, I have taught all levels from remedial through honors. Currently, I teach 11th grade Honors and am the advisor for the National Honor Society and I continue to discover new and fascinating aspects of teaching my students. Literature, writing and even grammar excites me. I also love helping high school students refine, and edit their college entrance essays.
I most enjoy interacting with and helping students. I love watching as my students get "that spark" when they get a concept, understand a story, or write a superb essay. What I really enjoy is seeing my students succeed in my class and then go on to succeed when they leave high school. That is one of the most gratifying parts of my job.
I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Education/English.
I also have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications/Journalism.
I have been an English teacher for over 20 years in the same school district.

The new student and I would discuss what his or her goals are for tutoring and the skills or concepts in need of improvement.
I would also discuss a timeline with the student and discuss with them how to achieve the desired goals.
We would then set up a schedule and I would gather materials needed.
