About Jesse
I feel successful when I have contributed to someone else's life.
I first began teaching English when I lived in Paris, France. I taught English to children and adults based on their specific goals and needs: conversational English, grammar, writing, and reading comprehension.
I first became a tutor at my college when I returned to New York City focusing primarily on critical, argumentative college level essays.
Moreover, I have experience providing supplemental instruction on a variety of subjects at the undergraduate level.
I graduated from The City College of New York with a dual major in English and International Studies. I graduated Magna Cum Laude (3.7 gpa), as a member of Phi Beta Kappa, as a Kaye and Gilman Scholar, and with English Honors. I wrote a undergraduate thesis entitled Je Suis L'Autre examining French national identity surrounding the banning of the veil as the expulsion of the Roma.
Lastly, I'm a published poet.

I would first like to either meet with or speak with a student to determine what the student's needs are. Besides this, it's also helpful to determine if we both can work together through our conversation.
I find this process helpful so that I can identify how I can personally tailor the class to my student.
