About Fritz

Goats just wanna have fun!

I have been teaching for fifteen years, both in classroom settings, private music and homework tutoring and outdoor education programs. My students have ranged from six years old to sixty and have come from a variety of backgrounds.

I graduated cum laude from Hillsdale College with a degree in Rhetoric and Public Address (or communications, to be less fancy!). I love to learn new skills and content and encourage my students to teach me something in each tutoring session as well!

I live and work on a Grade A goat dairy in the beautiful North Fork Valley and spend my days taking caring of a herd of happy goats.

I'm also an avid rock climber and spend as much time as possible climbing multipitch trad lines and developing new routes.

Don't just get smart, GOAT SMART!

I took on my first piano student, a six-year-old boy from China named Timothy, when I was fourteen at the time. From there, I picked up three other students and have been teaching ever since!

I taught fifth grade in the classroom setting for five years, started an outdoor rock climbing club for middle schoolers and ran it for three years, and have been tutoring privately since high school!

Three steps! First, I establish a rapport with the student by finding out what they love to do and what motivates them. Second, we talk about their goals and establish a plan for accomplishing them. Finally, we tackle the first step of that plan with hands-on, engaging teamwork

Minorities, small children, grown professionals, people with disabilities and retirees!

Ask them what they love most about teaching!

I taught myself how to solo aid climb, one of the most technical processes in rock climbing. I studied books and videos, then practiced rigging on the ground, then had an experienced climber double-check my systems, then went out and solo-aided a route!

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
Their objectives and how much work they are willing to put into achieving them.
