About Samantha

I established a strong interest in teaching post-secondary education while I was earning my master's in Human Biology. During my years of graduate school, I tutored anatomy and physiology courses for pre-nursing, pre-medical sciences, exercise science students, as well as master's and doctoral level Occupational Therapy and Physical Therapy students. I also worked as a teaching assistant for the first-year medical students' gross anatomy course.

In addition, I enjoyed tutoring college students with learning disabilities in various subjects, providing study techniques, organizational tips, and a listening ear during stressful times.

Once I had completed my M.S. degree, I taught 2 semesters of anatomy and physiology at the University of Indianapolis as the sole instructor for both the lab and lecture sections. PLEASE do not let my qualifications scare you. I have worked through plenty of difficult subjects on my own time prior to teaching my students, and discovered numerous innovative study techniques alongside my students. The beauty of education is in learning from each other and become more intellectually well-rounded people in our personal and professional lives.

My knack for simplifying complicated subjects in an approachable way has not always been limited to education. After 11 years as a competitive gymnast, I began coaching gymnastics to children ages 5-15. I also mentored elementary-aged children in after-school programs during my undergraduate studies. I am highly personable, caring, and resourceful, and will truly give you the attention that you deserve.

Please visit my linkedin for a more detailed account, or I can provide a copy of my curriculum vitae upon request.

About the lesson

Please send me a message or email with the following:

1. Your name

2. Subject you need help with (title and course number if applicable)

3. Year/grade in school

4. How you would like to receive tutoring (i.e. virtually via video call or in person with COVID safety precautions in place)

I will get back to you within 48 hours at the latest!

Traditional college-aged students, non-traditional college students, college students with learning impairements and disabilities, and elementary-aged children. I would prefer working with junior high school-aged students and up because I feel I can connect with them more effectively.

Front load us. Introduce yourself and be honest about your needs. Once we have established a system, you should provide us with absolutely all of the information and resources that you have been given by your teacher so we don't waste any time.

I just signed a lease for my dream apartment in San Francisco! I moved back to California in November to work as an archaeologist and be closer to my family again.

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
1. What do you find most intimidating about school or the subject that you are struggling with?

2. What study techniques have you tried, and which have worked best for you?

3. What qualities do you look up to in a leader, coach, or educator?

Sammi knows her stuff. My tutoring session went very well. I was pleased with all the tips and personalized information given to help my specific needs. She went step by step through my homework and made every problem seem easy. I would have not have passed the class without her.
