About Aleksandra
I specialize in helping students to write clearly, edit their writing, and improve their reading comprehension. I take a holistic approach to teaching English because I believe that clear and objective thinking is the basis of reading comprehension and good writing. In today's academic climate, good test scores are important for academic success. I teach my students strategies tailored toward today's test-focused academic standards as well as teaching them principles of clear thinking.
I love learning and sharing my knowledge with others. There's no greater delight than that "aha" moment when something finally clicks for my students. Each tutoring experience is a delightful lesson for me also.
I taught myself English by reading many voluminous books and I have recent experience in the New York City education system as a student at a specialized high school. I'm familiar with the high school admissions process as well as PSAT and SAT preparation. I never participated in tutoring as a student myself but developed my own techniques for excelling in exams and in-class assignments such as essays.
