About Erin

I love helping my students realize their love of certain subjects! It makes me so proud to watch my students achieve their goals and make THEMSELVES proud!

I have been working as a teacher/tutor on and off over the last almost 15 years.

I'm most passionate about English, Music and Creative Arts but, regardless of the subject, I will always strive to do my very best to make sure your needs are met while we work together!

When I was a young girl, my mom taught a babysitting course at the local rec center. I went with her to every session and I was responsible for passing out materials and essentially being her TA :) it really sparked my love for children and education. From there, I began babysitting as soon as I was old enough to do so, and it wasn't long after that that I branched out into working as a teacher in a preschool/daycare setting. I always dreamed of being a teacher and had been accepted into the Early Childhood Education program at my local college when I got hired as Flight Attendant for US Airways and had to move out of state. I've been longing for a way to get back into teaching ever since!

I have some Early Childhood Education, but mainly my experience/training has come from first hand knowledge while working on the job. In all my years of teaching, tutoring, nannying and childcare, I have picked up different ways of doing things and with every student that I come across, I'm able to tailor my approach that much better for the next student.

First I would like to get a sense of the subject material we'll be working with, and then have an in depth discussion with my student about what their goals are moving forward. Once I get a good sense of both of those things, it allows me to tailor my approach to that specific student because everyone learns differently. I also like to check in as time progresses to make sure the student feels like they're on track with achieving those goals!

I think I've worked with all types of students! Students who love education, hate education, require special assistance to get their education, etc. Each student brings a different set of challenges because they're all different and learn differently. I welcome every opportunity to work with new students, even the difficult ones, because it's that much sweeter when we find a way through and are able to get on the same page to move forward!

I would advise the student to think about what their specific needs are, and then to meet with the teacher/tutor to see if they're a good fit for each other!

Also to approach it with an open mind so that the teacher can do their best to get through and give the best of themselves to you during your work together.

I still follow many of the families I've taken care of in the past by keeping up with them on social media, and without getting into too many specifics, it's always such an incredible joy to see a student of mine grow in their education. Just recently a previous student of mine was recognized by his mom on Facebook for how well he's been doing in school after struggling for so long and it warmed my heart so much!

A few things worth thinking about before reaching out
1) What areas do I feel like I understand well?

2) What areas do I feel like I struggle with/need more time on?

3) How do I learn best? And how can I help my teacher help me be successful?
