About Malinda
I'm a very practical teacher who uses my training in differentiated instruction to help a student achieve their goals. I have over ten years of experience working with K-12 and six years of experience with persistence in first-year college students. My reading and literacy specialty licenses allow me to incorporate research-based reading methods so that the student is met where they are. In 2014, I won the Excellence in Teaching Award for the North Central Region of Indiana.
I enjoy watching that light-bulb moment when a student understands the material and can apply what they've learned. I enjoy the challenge of students who have a base of stinkin' thinkin' and watch their confidence grow.

We first discuss goals and then set up online checklists and a regular schedule. I learn what their past experience with educators have been and how they prefer to communicate. I then discuss the strengths and weaknesses and areas of improvement. I believe that action should line up with goals, so weekly checks are necessary for the student to improve.
