About Sami
I was, like a lot of students, struggling to keep up with my GCSE maths classes. The way my then teacher taught was too fast, too pressurised and too much like a lecture. I felt dumb, and thought I was just slow - but I was scared to ask questions out of fear. I know the feeling, and the stress and upset a bad maths lesson/teacher can cause, and I wanted to help alleviate that.
It wasn't until I reached out to another maths teacher in the school that I started learning. He taught differently and was patient and kind. It was then that I realised that people learn differently and this notion that maths is 'hard', 'impossible' or 'just for smart kids' is totally not true. Everyone is capable, and can do well. This confidence and knowledge came from that kind teacher and I want to give back what that he gave to me.

I tend to do online lessons, but in person are also negotiable (based in Cardiff, South Wales). A typical lesson will be pre-planned on a set of related topics that a student has requested, or perhaps a mock or homework paper. I screen-share and show a range of live work through examples and allow students to ask questions and gain a better understanding, before asking them to attempt their own questions.
A mini assignment can be provided on the topic which can be covered in the next lesson to check understanding. Any exam board can be covered and I am able to do specific parts of the specification or the whole course.
Lesson length can be discussed, but tends to be 1-2 hours.
My experience is mainly with GCSE and Additional Maths students as well as A level (~14-18 year olds) but pre GCSE lessons could be arranged.
I have tutored a lot of students to success, and I believe my gentler and more understanding approach to teaching and learning maths has helped greatly. Everyone learns differently!
Everyone has always had a pleasant time and will always leave with an increased sense of confidence.
