About Colleen
After 28 years in education, I have finally found the most rewarding aspect; assisting students with the English Language. I work with school districts and coach teachers in the imporance of English Learners and the importance of providing an equitable educational experience. English Langauge is taught in conjunction with the content and not in isolation. Additionally, various methods and strategies are utilized to eliminate any language barriers in assessing content. Just because a student doesn't know the word doesn't mean they don't know the answer!
Personally, I enjoy working with students to find ways to grasp the conventions and vocabulary of the English language using content and interests of the students. Additionally, I enjoy proofreading and editing assignements, essays, and professional papers for inaccuracies ad using hose as teachable moments with my students. I have a professional educators license in k-12 ESL, k-12 Music, Adminisration, and Superintendency. I have worked exclusively with EL Families and students the past three years in a school district with approximately 13% English Learners. I look forward to continuing to building a consulting and tutoring business to assist schools in meeting the needs of English Learners.

I love to take some time to get to know my students. Where are they from? What do they like to do? What do hey hope to get out of tutoring? What goals do they have? Thi entire process is all about the student and their needs. My role is to facilitate this process and help them meet these needs.
