About Ben
Songs that I have written have been streamed over four million times across all platforms and national outlets like NPR have praised my work, naming Kady Rain's R.A.D. Moves as their song of the summer in 2018 beating out artists like Beyonce, Drake, and Zedd. I've written over four hundred songs in the last five years and have countless hours of music theory, arrangement, and songwriting experience under my belt.
I teach private one on one lessons and also at conferences. When teaching private lessons it's best if we start with understanding what the student is hoping to get out of lessons and what experience they already have. I have had many students tell me that they've never learned so much in such a short amount of time!

We don't know what we don't know. When I started my journey learning music theory I thought I understood music. As I began to understand music theory on a deeper level I realized that I had barely scratched the surface. I love watching a student grow as the blinders are lifted and we demystify how great songs are written. The growth is what inspires me!

In my experience it's best to start by discussing the students goals and experience level and go from there. I always encourage my students to explore aspects of music that are foreign to them and will make suggestions based upon what they tell me but ultimately I am there to teach them what they want to learn.

Ben has been Great. I went to him to get a better sense of theory in order to help write better songs, and know why I do what I do works and does not work. I am a self taught musician/songwriter that has some how managed to sell a lot of records, win some awards for songs I've written, and play in bands with folks that tour the world professionally as Grammy nominated musicians. However, I don't really know what I am doing (being self taught). Ben has helped to break this down in a way that makes sense to someone with basically no theoretical knowledge of what I have "learned" over the years.
Ben is enthusiastic, personable, and very knowledgeable about music theory. Working with him has a very helpful and rewarding experience!
