About Robert
In music, I believe it's very motivating for a person to be able to hear, at least roughly, the music they want to play. This part is fairly easy to achieve. Beyond that, I believe that music can be most readily enjoyed and realized by immersing oneself in fundamentals. We can move on beyond that building on those fundamentals.
I enjoying seeing students being excited about the progress they're making. As they learn the instrument they can pursue more intricate and beautiful aspects of music.
I got started while I was young. I started doing it because I needed people to play with.
I studied music for about two years at CSU Chico in Ca. But, most of my training has come from playing music with others and doggedly asking questions of players better than me.

I like to talk with students to find out what experience they already have with music. Also I need to know what type of music they like and what their goals are. I believe goals are really important to help a student end up in a place they're happy with. Beyond that, we get to work starting from making sure all the tool are in their toolbox.
